YoYo Silk Bud Scarves are individually hand made from silk fabric that has been hand woven and intended for traditional festive and formal Thai clothing. Excess, unused fabric is repurposed to make the silk buds.
Thai silk is world famous for its beauty, unique lustre, and exceptional craftsmanship.
Likewise, each scarf is completely unique, consisting of numerous, small "flower buds" of varying colors and patterns but which all complement each other.
Each Yoyo scarf measures 82" x 3.5".
This silk scarf is produced by the Ban Napho Weaving Group, a women’s cooperative in Isan, eastern Thailand. The group, which produces the most spectacular silk fabrics, is consistently recognized and featured in Thai Government sponsored programs that support rural enterprises. The villagers routinely experiment with dyeing techniques and weaving methods to create unique, original and stylish silk scarves and shawls.
The group that works with these artisans to market their products outside of Thailand subscribes to the Fair Trade business model. It works only with groups which allow it to visit and observe the products being made, guaranteeing safe working conditions and appropriate living wages for all members, and that child labor is strictly prohibited.
