An exquisite necklace made by some of the best Guatemalan fair trade jewelry craftswomen. Multiple strands of Czechoslovakian beads are combined into a long necklace, linked together by braided tube-shaped sections. It hangs about 15" from the neck.
Artist's Story:
Women artisans from the highlands of Guatemala use traditional beading techniques to create this elegant jewelry. These indigenous women are among the most economically disadvantaged residents of Guatemala. They work under strict fair trade conditions, meaning their wages are 3-5 times higher than average in their economy, their work environment is safe and pleasant, and they receive health care and skills training.
