This bag was made under the auspices of StopStart, an international relief organization that provides shelter, education, and jobs for trafficked and abused women in Cambodia. The organization employs about 40 women, many of whom have been rescued out of sexual trafficking. Whether trafficked or not these women have suffered extreme emotional or physical abuse.
Most of the women share common experiences, such as that of Srey. She was orphaned as a young child when her father sold her at a border camp to an old woman who physically abused her. She was then sold into prostitution. Years later, she was given relief from her desperate conditions by StopStart at its shelter. She was schooled in literacy, received health care, and later trained as a seamstress. She is now living a productive, healthy and free life. Your purchase helps continue these efforts for many more women like her.
