I love these earrings!  Three complementary-colored chips of tagua, the "vegetable ivory," create truly unique earrings.  They're light as a feather and about 1 1/4" long. Stainless steel hooks.

The process of hand crafting jewelry from tagua nuts is a long and meticulous one.  After harvesting the nuts, they're dried and carefully carved into various shapes.  Then they're dyed with vegetables dyes and strung into necklaces, bracelets, or earrings.

They pair beautifully with many of the other pieces in our Rainforest Jewelry collection.

  1. Beautiful and comfortable

My husband bought me these earrings to match the necklace. I love them. Vibrant colors, light weight and comfortable.

The men and women employed by Encanto, the company behind this line of jewelry, enjoy their work not only because they are paid a fair wage, but because of the respect shown for their work and their opinions.

The Tagua industry in Colombia has developed into a source of fair trade revenue in both urban craftsmen's studios and the rural communities where the seed is planted and harvested.

Tagua jewelry craftspeople earn up to 5 times more than they would if they worked on plantations or cattle ranches, both of which require clear-cutting the rainforests. The eco-friendly tagua nut thus provides a respectable and sustainable income for the workers.
