This jewelry was made by Indonesian women in and around Bali. Many of them come from families who have made jewelry for generations. The difference now is that these artisans work with fair trade cooperatives who not only pay them fairly and directly and provide good working conditions, but also expand the market for their creations. Many of the artisans work from their homes, so they can care for their families while doing work to support them.
