Available in 4 delicious colors reminiscent of summertime sherbet flavors. Hand dyed and handmade using the traditional chenille weaving methods in Guatemala.
62" long & 3.5" wide. Hand wash or dry clean.
The repression by the military of the Maya in the Guatemala highlands during the years 1981-1982 led to many women being left widowed. Asomadek, the Mayan Association for Development, grew out of an effort to find work for these women. Today in Solola, over 200 women & men have stable income dyeing bamboo fiber & weaving using a backstrap weaving method.
According to Odelia, the first Mayan woman in Guatemala to become the General Manager of a large cooperative, “we are proud to partner with so many fair trade groups in the U.S. and Canada.”
